FAQs
How long does a painting take to complete?
Depending on size and content, a painting can take anywhere between 6-10 weeks to complete, dependent on drying times and varnishing preferences. For portraits, ideally we will have at least 10 hours of sittings over 2 hour sessions, which I will arrange to suit your schedule. Alternatively, I am able to work from photographs. Each canvas is handcrafted and my paints are ground from pigments in the tradition of the Old Masters.
What size is a standard portrait?
A standard portrait of the head and shoulders is 50cm by 60cm. Custom canvas sizes are made upon request.
Do you offer private tutoring or group workshops?
I offer both private one to one tutoring and group workshops, exploring the methods of the Old Masters, portraiture, still life, the methods of John Singer Sargent and Frans Hals. I work with schools, galleries, heritage organisations and charities to provide bespoke workshops tailored to the client’s needs.
How much does a painting cost?
Prices vary according to sizing, subject and medium. Drawing and painting sketches are a cheaper alternative to a fully developed portrait. Please contact me at gracemaya@live.co.uk to discuss pricing.
Will I own the Copyright?
I will own the copyright as the artist and am able to discuss a copyright agreement on request.
